The Bajda
Family´s lumberman tradition goes back to the beginning
of the century, in the lovely Alpine country of Slovenia,
where Mr. Pedro Bajda decided to embrace the noble old
craft of wine oak-barrels making. He leaves his homeland,
crossing the ocean with his wife and children, and
arrives at the end of 1949 to Argentina. His first
restlessness was to know where exactly was the grape-growing
and wine production region, so as to direct himself to
that place, to settle down and to work there in a craft
that he knew and was skilled for. The answer was
Mendoza, and so his destination.
Eventually,
with his sons, he formed the lumber company BAJDA S.R.L.
whose activity went diversifying. At the present time,
under the direction of his eldest son Paul Bajda, the
company owns an industrial establishment of 25.000 sq. meters
in Mendoza, Argentina, dedicated mainly to fine-wood seasoning to
be later be transformed in fine floors, wine oak-wood
vessels as well as excellent woods and hardwood flooring. The industrial
facility possesses three state-of-the-art seasoning
ovens and the facilities where the raw material is being
transformed in high quality products destined to the
main markets in Argentina and abroad (Chile, Uruguay,
Brazil, Italy, Switzerland). In Argentina, the company
contacts its clients at three own points of sale, one in
Mendoza and the two remaining ones in Buenos Aires. The
company has undertaken as well important projects of afforestation.
